Sam Bird stood on the second step of the podium for the second consecutive race meeting, at the F3 Euroseries event held on the Bugatti Circuit, Le Mans, France.
Having qualified in 4th slot, the BP Ultimate Driver made an excellent start, immediately slotting into 3rd position. Sam then piled pressure on second place man Coletti, who eventually made an error on lap three, enabling Bird to swoop into 2nd place, from where he gradually pulled away from Mika Maki and the rest of the pack. Race leader Bianchi was by then beyond reach and Sam settled into a fast and consistent rhythm, to rack up a strong 2nd place for the second time in as many weeks.
After the race Sam commented “I’m very happy with my performances in practice, in qualifying, and in today’s race. Another eight points are very useful for me in the championship standings and it's helping me to end the year on a high.” Bird is certainly proving to be the man on the move and the one to watch in the latter stages of the F3 Euroseries championship.
“I’m very much looking forward to Hockenheim, where I aim to go one step higher!"
The next race weekend takes place at Hockenheim on October 25/26.
